    Hello,

My name is Andrew Parker. I am a radio producer for the CBC - Canadian Broadcasting Corporation in Toronto. The programme I work for is called “Search Engine”, which explores the impact the internet is having on culture and politics, worldwide.

We’re interested in devoting next week’s lead segment to a discussion of how the Russian government is seeking to control the Internet within Russia. A number of articles suggest that Putin’s allies are creating and buying up websites to nurture a favourable, and controllable network of web traffic.

We’d like to hear more about how this is occuring, and how bloggers connected/supportive of Putin, have been jamming the sites of pro-democracy groups like The Other Russia.

We’re wondering if you might be able to suggest any contacts in Russia who might agree to do a phone interview with us on some of these issues.

Our deadline for this story is early next week, so I would appreciate it, if you could get in touch soon.

For your information, our programme is broadcast nationally, on Canadian public radio, with

approximately 5-hundred thousand listeners each week.

    Thanks very much.

    Andrew Parker
